Government Senior Secondary School Lingee is located in a distant village of Namchi District South Sikkim. Lingee school was established as a committee school on 7th March 1955 by a few like-minded people. The founder members were Shri Negay Lepcha, Shri. Narbir Thapa, Shri. Kunzang Lepcha, Shri Tula Ram Tiwari, Shri Tilchand Kharka, Shri Dorjee Lepcha, Shri Dal Bdr. Mainali and Shri Dogay Lepcha. The school was run as committee school from 1955 to 1959. It was upgraded as Lower Primary school in the year 1960 till 1961 .During the year 1962-1966 it became Primary school. In the year 1967 -1982 it became Junior High School it was upgraded as secondary School in the year 1982 and run as Sec. School up to the year 2012. In the year 2013 it was upgraded as Sr. Sec. School till date. The first Teacher In-charge was Man Singh Rai followed by Tika Ram Rai. At present, Lingee Sr. Sec. School conducts classes from Nursery to class XII.

The school is affiliated to CBSE- New Delhi under Guhawati Regional Office. It is run by Education Department Government of Sikkim and comples to RTE and other norms under Ministry of Education.

Lingee Sr. Sec. School is open to all children irrespective of cast, religion, gender or social status.

All the employees take care of students to grow academically, physically, intellectually, morally, spiritually, aesthetically, without any Discrimination and inculcate honesty, integrity discipline, unity, peace compassion and values.

Lingee Sr. Sec. School provide different types of facilities to the students and also all the students can participate in different kinds of activities. School is producing 100% result in Board Exam as well as players in state team for National Level Kabaddi, football etc. For the development of students various clubs are also formed such as Eco- Club, Red- Ribbon Club, NSS, ,NCC, Student Police Cadets and Electoral literacy Club. etc.

School has Science, Humanities, Commerce, Tourism and IT streams. It has yoga class, Junior Tinkering Lab, Atal Tinkering, organic Green House , IT lab, composite science lab etc. Students have participated in various quiz, essay, painting, science exhibition , culture activities organised by government and other agencies .

Teachers respect and take care of each students. NEP 2020 is implemented and various NIPUN activities, Vidhya Pravesh etc is conducted.
